Set on the banks of the iconic Yarra River, Moomba is an iconic annual festival held on the Labour Day long weekend (9–12 March). From the historic parade and Birdman Rally to watersports and skate comps, Moomba has something for everyone.
The City of Melbourne proudly presents Australia’s largest free community festival Moomba. Sixty-four years on, the festival is wise with age, steeped in tradition, but undoubtedly young at heart – just like the city it calls home.
The uniquely Melbourne program of activities and events runs from 9 – 12 March on the banks of the iconic Yarra River at Birrarung Marr and Alexandra Gardens.
Highlights of the family-friendly program include the Moomba Parade with its artistic, community-inspired floats and the wacky Birdman Rally.
Moomba Festival showcases the talents of local performers and the hospitality of our traders. The Moomba Masters’ world-class watersports, and the pro scoot, skate and BMX competitions are also favourites in our sports-mad city.
Please join us to celebrate Melbourne’s diversity and creativity at Moomba 2018.
Moomba respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land on which the festival takes place.
